Stock Price Spikes & New Games Galore (23/7/13)

July 23, 2013

investing

So today began with the news that Nintendo’s stock price had risen by 4%, to leave it at its highest price since July 2011. The price of the Nintendo stock rose from 16.75 at the end of Friday 19th to 17.52 by the time the Japanese Stock Market reopened on Monday 22nd July; this is and increase of 0.77,  or 4%. This left the Nintendo with a stock worth ¥14,050, or $140.84/£91.65.While this obviously isn’t bad news, I wouldn’t in any way say this small rise in stock price suggests Nintendo are going to suddenly receive a  change of fortunes. When you look at the current stock price, which is 17.30, you would have to multiply it over 4 times to get the price back to 76.87, which it was at when the Wii was in its prime. On top of this, it’s not even like the price of the stock is still improving. In fact, since the 4% rise in the stock price, Nintendo’s stock has fallen by 0.47%. I’m no expert in the stock market, but this is surely some food for thought.

Anyway, it’s suggested that this increase in stock price was prompted by the news of several things. Firstly, the news that the Chinese government is lifting their ban on video games is said to have made the price rise. It’s predicted that Nintendo consoles will sell well in the most heavily populated country in the world. On top of this, people are said to have been investing more money in Nintendo ever since the increased popularity of the Nintendo 3DS. This happened because of several high profile releases, such as Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team.

In other news, several new titles have been announced for the DS, Wii, 3DS, Wii U and the Nintendo eShop. First of all, ‘Black Forest Games‘ are releasing a title for the Wii U Nintendo eShop, called ‘Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams‘. This game was released for the PC late last year, and will be a sequel to the DS title ‘Gina Sisters‘. Click here for more information.

Also announced for the eShop, although this time on the 3DS, is the ‘GameFreak‘ title ‘Soritia Horse‘. The game will combine horse racing and the classic card game Solitaire, by using features unique to the Nintendo 3DS. Soritia Horse will be released on the Japanese eShop on July 31st.

On top of this, ‘Zen Studios‘ also announced that ‘Star Wars Pinball‘ will be coming to the 3DS eShop. All Zen Studios announced was that the game will be coming to the 3DS eShop, but we can expect more details to be revealed soon.

Another game announced today, this time for the Wii, Wii U and 3DS, is Ben 10: Omniverse 2, which will be developed by ‘D3Publisher‘. These are the same people who developed the original Ben 10: Omniverse game, which was released on the Wii, DS and 3DS.

The last of today’s game announcements was the DS, 3DS, Wii and Wii U title ‘Phineas and Ferb: Quest for Cool Stuff‘, which will be developed by ‘Majesco‘. This title will be released in North America on August 13th, which will have a new story line, so fans of the show may be interested in this particular game.

Not much else happened today, other then the catalog of announcements for average games. Hopefully tomorrow will be more interesting. Till then.
