Loads of New Information About Wii U

There have been loads of new pieces of infomation about the Wii U released in the past 12 or so hours, so here is a summary of it.

The Wii U shown at Nintendo’s New York press conference on September 13th (Thursday) will be the final form of Nintendo’s new console. The press conference will be shown between 10AM and 4PM EST.

The Wii U will be released this holiday season in Europe. There were rumours the European release was delayed due to a lack of consoles built so far, but it will be released this year. Find out the exact European release date on September 13th at 3PM UK time during a Nintendo Direct. A Nintendo statement about this read:

The Wii U console launches this holiday season and introduces the Wii U GamePad, a controller with a 6.2-inch touch screen that redefines how people interact with their games, their entertainment and one another.

The Wii U Specifications have been leaked on website VG Leaks, and they were as follows:


“Espresso” CPU on the Wii U has three enhanced Broadway cores


“GPU7” AMD Radeon™-based High Definition GPU. Unique API = GX2, which supports Shader Model 4.0 (DirectX 10.1 and OpenGL 3.3 equivalent functionality)


Mem1 = 32MB Mem2 = 1GB (that applications can use)


Internal 8 GB with support for SD Cards (SD Cards up to 2GB/ SDHC Cards up to 32GB) and External USB Connected Hard Drives


802.11 b/g/n Wifi

Video Output:

Supports 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i

Video Cables Supported:

Compatible cables include HDMI, Wii D-Terminal, Wii Component Video, Wii RGB, Wii S-Video Stereo AV and Wii AV.


Four USB 2.0 Ports
